Actress Halle Berry seemed to tackle the recent comments that former Atlanta Braves and New York Yankee’s star David Justice did about their previous relationship.

Justice and Berry married in 1993 and parted more than four years later. Berry requested divorce in April 1996 with reference to “irreconcilable differences.” Justice filed her own divorce papers two weeks later. It became official in June 1997.

During a recent appearance on the podcast “All the Smoke”, Justice suggested that his marriage be dissolved because of Berry’s apparently lack of cooking and cleaning. “She’s not cooking, doesn’t clean, doesn’t really seem maternal,” Justice told the former NBA player Matt Barnes.

Shortly after Justice’s comments appeared, the Oscar winner shared a number of photos on social media. One of the pictures showed Berry Laughing and Vacation with his current romantic partner, musician van Hunt. Berry’s caption seemed to be a response to Justice’s remarks, “Phew …! Cooking, cleaning and motherhood,” she wrote on Instagram.

During his sitdown on the podcast, Justice pointed out that Berry asked him to marry her after a few months of dating.

“There really wasn’t much negative attention until I decided to leave her in 1996,” said the former Brave’s outfielder. “… she asked me to marry her after knowing me for five months. I said, ‘Ok’ because I couldn’t say no … but I don’t know if my heart was really in it.”

“… My knowledge and wisdom about relationships was not huge. So I look at my mother and I am a Midwest -guy, so in my mind I think a wife should cook at the time, clean – and then I think, ‘OK, if we have children, this is the woman I want to have children with or a family with.

“And at the time, like a young guy, she doesn’t cook, cleans, doesn’t really look like maternal, and then we start to have trouble.”

Berry and Justice’s divorce was completed in 1997. She continued to have two children, one with an ex-boyfriend. She shares her second child with her ex-husband Oliver Martinez.

Justice is married to businesswoman Rebecca Villalobos. The two have three children.
