- For the first time, dark web scan is integrated into a hosting panel
- Get security recommendations if your data is found
- Hostings claim that over 50% of customers find data previously revealed on Dark Web
Many security tools are already telling you when personal information is leaked and shared on the dark web, but unless you control, you do not know if your data has been disclosed.
This may leave you in danger of your account being hacked, either through imitation, or simply your site that will access your username and password.
Now, a new tool from hostings is looking to increase the user’s security by offering built-in dark web scan for the first time, which integrates the tool directly into its HPanel service.
Dark web scan
There are other free and paid tools available online to check if your information is leaked online, but this is the first tool of this type that is directly integrated into a hosting panel.
Hostings say its first trial found over half of the customers had data revealed on the dark web, and received warnings along with suggestions on how to improve security as updating passwords and ensures that two factor authentication is turned on.
The tool was developed by Nordstellar and is available as a separate product or can be activated in Hostinger’s HPanel, starting from $ 1.49/mo.
It works by tracking key words associated with your business in dark web forums, search engines, markets and communities. It also scans according to information related to employee and client data for comprehensive monitoring.
Why is this important?
The dark web is a decentralized and unregulated part of the Internet. On it you can find all kinds of illegal content and it is normal for the first place, stolen information is shared or exposed to sales.
Hackers can utilize vulnerabilities to access databases and steal large amounts of data held on a service. Instead of spending time spending this information to target people in the data set, hackers will sell the bulk data to bad actors who will in turn try to use the data illegally for financial gain. This may be in the form of credit card fraud or use the information to mimic a user to access things like an E email address or a web hosting account.
Ordinary security tools that are integrated into hosting panels include Web Application Firewalls (WAF), which enhance security through actions such as inspection of incoming traffic, control of scripting across place, limiting requests to stop brute force attacks and identify bots. Panels also often include password management tools and two factor approval, file monitoring and malware scanners.
While these tools are often updated to patch the latest security vulnerability on your site, they cannot protect you or your business if your details are hacked and revealed online from other digital services you are using. By monitoring the dark web To obtain information associated with you, other attack vectors are reduced as it allows you to update your information or add stricter security while at greater security risks
