Dragon House (Hotd) Is known for the burning fallout that destroys House Targaryen from the inside, but it seems that life mimics the art as the filming starts on Hot HBO TV Original’s third season.
Yesterday (31 March) HBO confirmed that Dragon House Season 3 has gone in full production prior to its for-the-advertised release date in Max (USA and Australia) and Sky/Now TV (UK).

Connected, as this news is, it has since been overshadowed by an increasingly full-to-tate-to-tate between the Live-Action series’ Showrunner and George RR Martin. The latter is of course the Fantasy Book Namesake’s author and world -famous creator of Game of Thronesalias Hotd‘s multi-novel subsequent, which was also transformed into a hugely popular HBO TV show.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Hotd Showrunner Ryan Condal responded to comments from Martin in a blog post in September 2024 that has since been deleted.

Questions that Martin brought forward, as reported by IGN last September, included the absence of Aegon and Helaena’s third child Maelor, the latter significance for the shocking ‘blood and cheese’ history, and how this great change sets the stage for even more “toxic” changes to be made in one of the best maximum shows’ third and fourth years.
Seven months from Martin, who publicly issued his frustrations, acknowledged Condal that such changes would disappoint Martin “Literary icon … and the person’s personal hero”, as well as Hotd and Thrones‘Global Fanbase. Nevertheless, he tried to defend himself against Martin’s remonstrations before politely suggested that the legendary author became difficult to work with.
“The [the Targaryen civil war] Is this incomplete story and it takes a lot of joining the dots and a lot of invention when you go along the way, ”Condal said.
“I simply want to say I did everything to include George in the adaptation process. I really did. This year and year. And we really enjoyed a mutually fruitful, I thought, really strong cooperation for a long time. But at one point, when we got deeper down the road, he just became unwilling to acknowledge the practical problems in a reasonable way.
“And I think I, as a showrunner, have to keep my practical producer hat on and my creative author, promise-of-the-material hat at the same time,” he added. “At the end of the day, I just have to continue to march not only the writing process forward, but also the practical parts of the process forward for the crew, the role crew and for HBO because it is my job. So I can only hope that George and I can rediscover that harmony one day.”
New Details of House of the Dragon Season 3 Revealed
Away from the increasingly fiery exchange between the two creative, revealed Condal and HBO new information about the hit series’ upcoming season.
In a press release, HBO announced Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) and Dan Fogler (Amazing animals(Happy Valley), who was previously confirmed to have joined the case as Ormund Hightower.
Elsewhere, Condal teased that the battle of the gorge, one of the most important conflicts in the Targaryen Civil War, will be adapted in Season 3. Eventually, the HBO show’s next chapter, as is its forbear, contains eight episodes rather than the 10 that told Season 1’s story together.
