How long will cold waves continue in Karachi and Sindh?

The ongoing cold wave in Karachi and across Sindh is expected to continue, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicting continued cold and dry conditions for the next three days.

In Karachi, temperatures may drop as low as 8°C to 9°C during this period, with a maximum temperature range of 25°C to 27°C.

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 8.5°C today, accompanied by stronger than normal winds.

The weather office also predicts light rain or drizzle in parts of Sindh, including Sanghar, Tharparkar and Umerkot districts, tomorrow evening or night.

Residents of Karachi and Sindh are advised to prepare for persistent cold conditions as no relief is in sight immediately.

Karachi shivers on the coldest night of the season

The harbor city experienced its coldest night of the season, when the temperature dropped to single digits early on Tuesday morning.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 8°C, marking a drop of one degree from the previous day.

At Jinnah Terminal, the temperature dropped further to 6.2 Celsius, while the town of Mithi in rural Sindh recorded a freezing 0°C.

Chilly winds from Balochistan intensified the cold wave in Karachi on Tuesday. Despite moderate wind speeds, the city felt significantly colder in the early morning hours. The perceived temperature was 2 to 4 degrees lower than the actual readings due to the wind chill effect.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the official weather station in Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 8°C, while the Jinnah Terminal weather station reported an even lower 6.2 Celsius.

Other weather stations across the city recorded varying temperatures: Gulistan-e-Jauhar: 7.5°C, Mauripur: 10°C and Bin Qasim: 11°C.
