The latest crypto-and-congress news is about the Senates Democrats getting cold feet on the StableCOin Law proposal (Genius Act). The same bill they voted for Only two months ago. Why flip-flop? Because they don’t like Trump and They think the bill will help him make money. Why Democrats continue to hit “Repeat” on this losing message is beyond me. Hating on Trump does not win elections. Just refer to the election carnage in 2024.
But here’s the kicker: Crypto is not the threat, that’s the opportunity. If Democrats fell their losing sound bitter long enough to really learn crypto, they wouldn’t just write better politics, they would rewrite their political future in 2026.
By the numbers
By 2024, Democrats lost a generation. Young men who had historically leaned hard for Democrats fled. In just four years, young men from backing the bite went to give Trump one 30-point swing, Turn hard against the very candidate they once rejected. While there is plenty of soul search that needs to be done about why, an answer hides in ordinary sight: crypto.
Yes, crypto. And despite Big Crypto’s Talking Points, it’s not because young male voters are crypto voters with one issue. They are not. This is because crypto, like other new technologies of the past, reflects generational and gender divisions that reflect the trends we see among young male voters.
According to one Pew Research Center Survey41% of young men have used crypto. This is size orders larger than young women (16%) and people over 50 (8%). So even though the young male voter does not keep Krypto himself, 42% of his peer group is. It is in his social media feeds, his podcast rotations, his group chatting. And right now he hears only one side of the story because the Democrats have refused to learn the technique.
It is important to remember that these young men are not all online crypto fraudsters. They are the same who overwhelming share Democratic values such as “Basic Health Insurance are a right” and “The government should spend more on reducing poverty.”
Democrats may continue to call crypto a criminal business over and over again, but it doesn’t. The only effective thing it does is tell all young men that DEMS wants to cancel them. And we have seen how young men have punished them for it at the voting booth.
Error of Trump for Krypto
Let’s say the quiet part loudly: Crypto-native do not want to see Trump as the face of this community. He and his family promote the same kind of carpet drag projects that the crypto community has spent years fighting. So why did young men voted on him? Because even with grifting he does not ignore them completely or worse, they pretend that they are something they are not.
Go to any crypto meeting or conference and you know the builders are not about the hype -token or centralized projects supported only by endorsements. Crypto is about giving people control over their money, their data and their digital identity. Ethos is based on the earned distrust of centralized institutions: Wall Street, Big Tech and the federal government (most recently proven at the speed of Doges access to all our data).
Society’s often cited mantras prove the point:

● “Not your keys not your coins.”
● “If you don’t know where the yield comes from, you is the yield. “
This is not the vibes from blind allegiance. The Crypto community was born out of the financial crisis in 2008 when Bank’s collapsed during their own mismatch and the taxpayers fed the bill. Embedded in Bitcoin’s Genesis Block is the hard -coded reminder: “The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on the verge of other rescue for banks.”
Democrats’ insistence on conflicting with society with Trump’s opportunism is lazy. The obvious consequence has been to push the much voters away they desperately need.
The fix is simple but time -limited
Sure, some politicians may be a little scared of the campaign money involved: Crypto Pacs has traveled over 260 million dollars, Making Krypto the sixth largest Super Pac that dwarfed any other industry-supported Super PAC (all the others are related to a particular party or candidate). But these donations came from only 50 individuals. It’s not a movement. It’s a small elevator lobby.
Meanwhile, there is a whole voter base of millions of young men approaching crypto because of their distrust of Wall Street and Big Tech. The same mistrust Democrats share the same centralized units. Democrats do not need to embrace hype -coins or approve bad legislation. In fact, they shouldn’t. But they need to actually learn how to embrace the core values of the builders in the Crypto community: individually digital ownership and decentralization.
Democrats also have to start demonstrating this now. They cannot risk another cycle without bringing young men back under the tent. A cycle can be a blip, but two cycles in a row become a habit and habits are hard to break.
The course correction
In fact, Genius Act is the perfect opportunity for Democrats to show that they are a party more interested in voters than audio bites against Trump. The Current draft are 57 pages of legislative jargon to raise the roles of centralized units in supervising stablecoins. No surprise. Do you remember the 50 people who raised $ 260 million to Crypto Super Pac? They will certainly benefit from increased dependence on their dissemination.
But embedded in the draft legislation is a small definition that performs a lot of work, and that is the definition of “distributed headbok.” Instead of hating on Trump, Democrats could join forces to say that the definition does not require decentralization or network security, and until it happens, they cannot promote a stablecoin bill that promotes only fee-consuming central intermediaries. Now it could be the beginning of a real marine change.
Democrats don’t even have to mention Trump. The reality would be that none of the Trump family’s crypto projects would survive a definition that required real decentralization.
So here’s the real question: Do Democrats want to continue to lose choices just to avoid learning new technology? Or are they finally ready to act as a party who wants to win votes again?
