The National Hunt curtain is traveling again this week when the jumping season opener begins in Carlisle this Thursday. The season ranges from mid -October to the end of April/early May with an annual narrative arc of Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown, which is an eagerness after this season to begin.

What can one expect from the Carlisle season opener?
That’s the time of year again when Paddocks across the country jump back into life when national hunt begins on October 16 in Carlisle. The season opener is more than just a local meeting, it is the official start of the jump campaign where hope is renewed, strategies are implemented and many new faces are at the forefront.
For racing fans, Carlisle marks the beginning of all the drama that has not yet unfolded across obstacles, steeplechases, National Hunt flat and novice and disability. At this stage of the season, however, we rarely see the big stars entering the fold, leaving the door open to rising stars to show up on the big stage.
