Audacity is a new darkly satirical American drama set in the heart of Silicon Valley. Easily the biggest draw of this show? It is written by Jonathan Glatzer, known for writing and producing shows like Succession (a nine-time Primetime Emmy Award winner) and Better call Saul – which amazingly didn’t win any Emmys.
The story follows Duncan Park (played by Billy Magnussen), a super-talented tech executive obsessed with data and insights, driven to make money. But he is selfish and prone to ethical lapses, which makes him vulnerable to scandals and internal power struggles.
Then there’s Joanne (Sarah Goldberg), a therapist who starts out neutrally observing and counseling Duncan, but is gradually drawn into the world of rich billionaires and betrayal, forcing her to question her own boundaries.
While the setting may seem similar to Succession, Audacity shifts the lens inward and explores the mental and ethical rifts in the tech world. Complete with a slow-burning narrative and sharp satire, can Audacity deliver a modern critique of modern tech culture and the eccentricities of those who speak of?
