Poor sanitation after recent monsoon rains have left the city covered with bunker with waste and stagnant water, causing serious disadvantage to the residents. The failure of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and its nine cities to perform proper waste disposal and anti-lerman spraying has worsened the situation, triggers the spread of mosquitoes, flies and other insects.

As a result, local hospitals and private clinics report an increase in malaria, dengue, chikungunya, gastroenteritis, liver and stomach infections where children and elderly citizens are the most affected.

According to reports, stagnant rainwater still remains in Latifabad devices 7, 10 and 11, Airport Road, Bhatti Chowk, Site Area, Tando Mohammad Khan Road, Hali Road, Goods Naka, Murshidabad, Zeal Pak Colony and other low-lying neighborhoods. Even public facilities such as Rani Bagh, Zoo, Niaz Stadium and several government schools are flooded. In areas where drainage is completed, heaps of garbage and sludge continue to spread bad smells.

Residents complained that the already worsening roads have gotten worse, disrupting traffic flow and causing damage to vehicles.

Medical experts have expressed serious concern about the public health. Professor Dr. Muhammad Akram Bajwa, head of the Gastroenterology Department at Civil Hospital Hyderabad, warned that contaminated water and poor sanitation are burning an increase in hepatitis A and E, diarrhea, vomiting, gastric disorders, influenza and skin infections. He advised citizens to boil drinking water, consume homemade meals, avoid substandard street food and counterfeit cold drinks and minimize exposure to rainwater.

Dr. Bajwa also warned that dirty, stagnant water contains harmful bacteria that can penetrate wounds and cause serious diseases. He added that the lack of anti-endgue and anti-malaria spraying contributes to the spread of mosquitoes and flies, increasing the risk of malaria, dengue and chikungunya outbreaks.
