The social networkFacebook -biographical drama, as Mark Zuckerberg said was “hurtful”, gets a successor. And if the first one got Zuck to make a wrinkling face, then he hasn’t seen anything yet.
The reports say the screenplay for the new movie will focus on the Facebook files, the devastating Wall Street Journal report, which showed that Facebook and Zuckerberg were well aware of the toxic effects that the platform had on young users and political choices.
According to Deadline, Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin takes the original instructor David Fincher’s place to instruct The social network of part II For Sony Pictures. And where the first film followed the origin of the World-Straddling Social Media platform, the second intends to look at the damage it has been accused of doing.
What will the social network part II are about?
According to Esquire, the new film will adapt the series of the Wall Street Journal reports from 2021 called the Facebook files. As WSJ said at the time: “Facebook Inc. knows in urgent detail that its platforms are filled with deficiencies that cause harm, often in ways that only the company fully understands.”
The Facebook files – and provided evidence of – several accusations, including that Facebook was well aware of how toxic Instagram was too many teenage girls; This Facebook has a “secret elite” list of people for which Facebook’s rules do not apply; That Facebook knew its revised algorithm burned rage; And that Facebook didn’t do enough to stop anti-vax propaganda under Covid-19. Mostly cursed by all the Facebook files reported that all these things were well known to senior executives, including Mark Zuckerberg.
It is clear which side sorkin is taking. “I accuse Facebook for January 6,” he said last year. “Facebook, among other things, has been to set its algorithm to promote the most divisive material because that is what will increase the commitment … There must be a constant excitement of Facebook between growth and integrity. There is not. It’s just growth.”
According to Deadline, the new movie is not about the storm of Capitol. But it will focus on “Facebook’s effect on teens, preteens, violence and countries outside the US.”
