- De’longhi has launched a new manual espresso machine, Linea Classic
- It has all you would expect from an entry level at a budget price
- It is now in the US; We are still waiting for international prices and dates
De’longhi has launched a new espress machine without frills, which is compact, nice and has a remarkably affordable price.
De’longhi Linea Classic is now available from retailers, including Amazon and Crate & Barrel at a price of an early bird of $ 179.95 (about £ 140 / AU $ 290). The common price will be $ 199.95 (about £ 150 / AU $ 320), but de’longhi has not yet announced international pricing and accessibility.
Most of the best coffee machines I’ve been testing this year have been automated bean-to-cup machines with extra material such as automatic milk and cold brewing and price tags that many coffee crushes will seem unaffordable. It is therefore refreshing to see an espresso machine that just focuses on making the basics good at a very reasonable price.
De’longhi Linea Classic has all the features you would expect from an Espresso machine on Entry-Level, including a 15-bar pump (with a stainless steel pressure gauge so you can see the profile when your espresso is extracted), drip tray for adjustable height to accommodate different cups and a adjustable steam order.
All you need, nothing you don’t
It is also a compact machine that measures only 12 x 8.89 x 11.14 inches / 30.5 x 22.6 x 29 cm (H x W x D). It’s small enough to pull away on another small kitchen track – and because its case is stainless steel rather than plastic, it has to look and feels much more expensive than it actually is.
It certainly sounds appealing, and if it delivers its promises, it can even match the excellent Breville Bambino as the best compact espresso machine around. It is a tall order-bambino is the entry-level machine recommended by many professionals-but I have high hopes.
We should get the hands of De’Longhi Linea Classic for testing soon and we will bring you a full review when we have had a chance to set it through its pace.
