If you live in the UK, you do not suffer more often than do not suffer from heat wave temperatures. Even I have been cruelly torn away from Office Air Con, and will have to write this with an iced matcha latte pressed to the side of my face (humid, difficult to write, but ultimately necessary).
As one of Techradar’s home nesting players, I write about fans as part of my job. If you are one of the many Britons who suddenly hunt for the best fan to save you from melting in a puddle, let me help.
The # 1 fan I would buy now is Shark’s original FlexBreeze. This is almost about the most versatile fan of the market right now – it can be used wiring or wireless, inside or out, and as a high pedestal fan or a countertop for concentrated cooling. This means it can accompany you wherever you go. However, the right trump card is that it has a fog association with more intense cooling.
It scored an almost perfect 4.5 stars in our shark flexbreeze fan notification, and got our tester to go out immediately and buy two more.
Sure there are other options that meet more specific needs (I show three alternatives for a second), but if it’s as much cooling as much of the time you need, FlexBreeze should fit the bill.
Do I really need to fog?
Why is fog so useful in a fan? Well, fans don’t actually lower the temperature, they just make you feel cooler by promoting evaporation on your skin. If the air in the room is already hot, there is a limit of the effect they can have. In contrast will Lower the temperature, and especially if they pull on cold or cooled water (imagine).
To activate the fog association here, connect the fan to a water source. If you prefer not to deal with it, you can instead choose FlexBreeze Pro Mist, which has its own water tank. It is currently available as part of a bundle of the laptop FlexBreeze Hydroo for £ 299.98 (was £ 379.98) on Shark. It is more of an investment, but may be worth it if you have a friend or family member who also suffers from the heat.
Alternatives to consider

MEACOFAN 1056P AIR CIRCULATOR
An air circulator swings all the air in your room around and even delivers cooling in a larger area. This Meaco Circulator fan was tested during a previous heat wave and our reviewer can certify how effective it was. Read our full Meacofan 1056p Air Circulator Review for more info.

It’s expensive, but if you are struggling to sleep in the heat, this new Dyson fan is a game election. It is so quiet in operation that it even got the approval stamp from our very noise -sensitive tester. There is also a dedicated hibernation that dims the screen.
