I-DAY PREP fetching tempo in Twin Cities

With the beginning of August, preparations for Pakistan’s 78. Streets, markets and commercial centers are mourning with the sale of green crescent flags, badges and patriotic merchandise including clothes, hair bands, keychain and more. Temporary booths are created across neighborhoods, with the sounds of national songs filling the air. Government buildings such as the Presidency, the House of Parliament, the Supreme Court and the larger markets are decorated with colorful lights and buntings. Flag-hoisting ceremonies are held at High Court, District Bar, Adiala Prison, Universities and the Education Council. The central ceremony in Rawalpindi takes place at Government Waqar-Un-Nisa Girls College at. 9, where federal and provincial ministers will hoist the flag. Cultural programs, collections and exhibitions are also planned. In particular, former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid’s traditional fireworks at Lal Haveli will not take place this year.
