- David Denman has talked about his surprise at who he plays in Peacemaker Season 2

David Denman has lifted the lid on the audition process of the role he eventually landed in Peacemaker Season 2.
At the forefront of HBO Max Show’s return, I sat down with Denman to find out if and/or when he knew what character he would play, and talked about having the creative freedom to give life to someone who is not found in DC comics. Full spoilers immediately follow for this season’s premierealias ‘the ties that are grinded’. Turn back now if you haven’t seen it yet.
Despite the fact that they act but confirmation of Denman would appear in Peacemaker‘s second season last June last year, his character was revealed strictly held during wrapping until the series’ first episode was sent last night (August 21) or overnight (August 22), depending on where you live.
‘The ties that are grinded’ finally revealed the mysterious individual Denman would play. In short: It is Keith Smith, alias the brother of the titular anti-hero.
It’s a reveal with a great vri. In fact, last season’s seventh episode revealed that Chris accidentally killed Keith when they were children-Kith fell, hit his head on a cliff and had a life-ending seizure after Chris beat him during the latest match that their father Auggie regularly sets up to make money out of.
However, one of the best HBO Max Shows’ Sophomore Rate takes place in two realities. The first, alias DC universe (DCU), is the one there Peacemaker‘S Chris Smith comes from. The second is a parallel universe that a drunk Smith stumbles via quantum -scolding chamber (QUC). It is in this alternative dimension that Keith and Auggie not only live in, but with this world’s Chris Smith is celebrated heroes who act as a Justice League group known as the top trio.
For Denman, the opportunity to play a completely original creation-a bound by long-term friend and DC Studios Co-chef James Gunn, is not less-one, he called “incredibly exciting” during our chat. And while Denman “had a feeling”, he would produce Chris Smith’s older brother, who also passes the superhero of the superheroudonym Captain Triumph, in the DCU chapter 1 project, if he successfully landed the role, he was not quite sure his personal theory would be properly proven.
“I’ve been friends with James for 20 years,” Denman said. “I’m also good friends with Steve Agee [who plays John Economos] – We did the movie Brightburn [written and directed by Gunn] together and Freddit [Stroma, who plays Adrian Chase/Vigilante] did 13 hours: The secret soldiers in Benghazi A few years before that, so it wasn’t like I was coming completely cold [to this show’s cast].
“But I didn’t know who I was trying on. I had a feeling because of the dummy sides [excerpts of a script that aren’t used in the official production]But I was just gathering two and two together.
“Once I knew that [I’d got the part] And that Keith was not in the comics, it created freedom because you did not live up to something that has come before, “Denman continued.” I had to have certain things – I had to be as big as John [Cena, who plays Chris Smith] And looks like the child who played Keith in season one, but there was a lot of freedom to find out the character. James and I talked about who this guy was, how his relationship was with this alternative version of his father, and what it means to be a hero in this world to create that back story.
“I also had to find out this camera that Keith has with his father and Chris. Robert [Patrick, who plays Auggie] And John already had chemistry because they had worked together before, so I had to jump in and see how Keith fits into that dynamic. James also creates a safety net for us to fail while we are filming because he wants us to ad-lib, or he is busy rewriting the manuscript so you can throw different things out there, all of which was incredibly exciting. “
