We have known that Cyberpunk 2077 Finally comes to Mac, and developers CD Project Red (CDPR) has been tough on work and is still to get the title to run on any Apple Silicon-driven device. This means that the massive AAA title, which has often been used for benchmark systems, will be able to run on the M1 chip or newer.
It was confirmed on the WWDC 2025 APPLES weekly developer conference-to it would arrive later in the year, and back with the launch of the new Mac Studio, then Techradar a demo of it runs on the super-driven computer.
But now I had the chance to get another demo of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition -A newer version of the title Invevelopment-on a 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Max Chip and 128 GB RAM.
It was on ‘Ultra’ settings with a butter -smooth and excellent reproduced 120 frames per second. And yes, this performance is derived from Apple’s M4 Max Chip – no discreet GPU required. In addition, this is fully drawn from Apple’s Metal 4, which came later in the year, including Metalfx -Frame -Internal polishing.
It looked amazing and was responsive, but it made me think about the plans to launch this on any Apple Silicon Mac.
I was curious about performance on less powerful chips within Apple’s lineup, as the requirement for the title is expected to be Apple Silicon, which means it should run base M1, M2, M3 or M4 chips as well as the more powerful creations.
I asked Pawel Sasko, associate wastage director for CD Project Red, about what performance can look on other MACs with different levels of performance from different chips, like even a MacBook Air.
He explained that first Cyberpunk 2077 Runs on CDPR’s proprietary red engine four, which is designed to be scalable. “It tries to use everything that is given platform,” Sasko explained, calling that the title is already available on a number of devices, including Nintendo Switch 2 prior to its release on Mac.
“Red engine is basically trying to check what hardware you have and squeeze the maximum you can have,” he continued. Which means that Cyberpunk 2077 Will work to run and deliver the best performance based on the chip you have inside. Sasko could not yet give a specific number based on the chip or a potential Mac Sku, but that’s because the game still hasn’t ended – CDPR is still working on it and polishing it.
Sasko even shared that they will work on optimizing performance until the end, and recently CDPR figured out how to optimize cloth, also known as what a character is wearing to make it look better.
It is sufficient to say that he shared that “we are trying to squeeze everything that gives us hardware,” which means it will run the best it may be on Mac – which probably means that a more powerful chip, like an M4, M4 Pro or M4 Max, will deliver the best results.
And the good news is that we are probably only a few months away from one of the biggest AAA titles arriving at the Mac -CDPR team would not give an exact timeframe but Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Arriving in 2025.
I also got to see this demo of the title shortly after Apple revealed MacO’s 26 Tahoe, which will introduce the Games app. Although the CDPR has not announced whether it will integrate with the new node, it works with the new ‘gaming overlay’.
This is a sidebar that can be brought to the upper right side of the screen, making it easy to activate game mode, adjust brightness or volume and even change controllers as well as connect with friends. You can also choose to push your MacBook further with different energy states.
