Console and PC gaming are changing in more ways than one, especially with Valve’s console-like PC Steam Machine on the horizon and hardware prices skyrocketing due to high memory requirements. However, one modder has introduced a game setup that trumps everything.
A YouTube content creator, Xiao Ningzi (小宁子 XNZ), has created a three-in-one gaming console with a PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2, all running on a 250W power supply. He called it ‘Ningendo PXbox 5’. Basically, it’s made so it’s easy to switch between the three systems, as they all operate within a PS5-like chassis.
However, the change is not simple. Combining the motherboards for each system is hard enough, but it also includes designing a new case, a cumbersome process for anyone outside of a production warehouse.
Since the Switch 2 is a handheld device, Ningzi ensured that it was still easy to remove (as you can see in the video below), and switching between each system takes no more than five seconds.
Look at
I think it goes without saying that a DIY console as such will never see the light of day as an official project from the big three Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. However, it is quite surreal to see a passion project come to life.
As such, the game library available on a mega console is arguably larger than what you’ll find on a gaming PC in terms of value rather than quantity, with access to games that may never be officially ported to PC.
Of course, you would still have to buy each console to facilitate this DIY project. The appeal here though is the concept of buying a three-in-one console and having all PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo exclusives on one system, but we don’t live in a perfect world so this won’t happen.
Analysis: The Steam Machine is the closest system we’ll ever get to this
Valve’s Steam Machine is slated for launch in early 2026, and consumers are holding their breath for what its potential price tag could be. While we’ll certainly never see this Ningtendo PXbox 5 become a reality for most consumers, Valve’s upcoming system is the closest we’ll ever get to it.
The Steam Machine is, after all, a gaming PC, but one that is clearly aimed at the console gaming market with its mini PC design. With the thousands of PC indie games available, along with Xbox titles and PlayStation exclusives, the Steam Machine could be the best platform for console gamers when it launches.
It also goes without mentioning the emulation options for Nintendo games (which I am in no way in favor of) on PC, and it would bring the Steam Machine’s game library closer to that for this DIY project mega-console. Let’s just hope the price is within an affordable range.
