- Sony’s Pulse Elevate -to -speakers have Plane Magnetic Drivers
- Sony acquired audio company Audeze specifically for this technique
- Plane drivers supply incredibly dynamic, accurate sound
Life is not fair, I know this. But as a person whose music listening is mostly stationary -based, I am jealous of players today: Why do the small flat magnetic speakers get before sound oobs sessions like me?
Sony’s new Pulse Elevate is the first flat speakers for game setups and promise major specifications for modern speakers: low-latency connection, noise-canceling microphones, multi-unit connections, a built-in battery and so on.
But according to Sony, they also have something much more interesting: “Studio-inspired flat magnetic drivers”. This means they have the same kind of drivers as some of the very best over-ear headphones that require large amounts of money to buy.
These are not the world’s first flat speakers in any way – Magneplanar was entering into production in 1969, and its successors are still in production today – but as far as I know they are the first laptops. And flat magnetic speakers are a really big deal because the technology delivers incredibly accurate, lifelike sound.
So how has Sony turned the big audio brands for the punch?
I think we’ve already seen Sony’s Plane Tech
The short answer is: Audeze. Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired Audeze in 2023 to “strengthen [Sony’s] Efforts to continue to innovate when it comes to the sound experience of PlayStation game. “
Audeze does not just make flat magnetic headphones. So does flat magnetic speaker phones, and these devices use both flat drivers and neural network -based noise reduction. So maybe the technology of the new Pulse Elevate speakers was hidden in clear vision all the time, albeit in a clearly non-play context.
The Audeze site provides a good overview of its driver technology, which contains the company’s fluxor magnets and nano-scale membranes to provide unusually quick performance; Together they deliver what Audeze proudly say are “some of the best reviewed [headphones] in the world. “
This means that Pulse Elevate can be something special not only for players, but for music fans more far -reaching -Audeze CEO promised Techradar readers that its technique would not just be limited to PlayStation products, and said, “Sie encourages us to expand these product offerings … This acquisition will only improve our efforts and give us more opportunities in our target markets.”
I hope the speakers are as exciting as they seem to be – and that they are just the first in several options. I would very much like to see a small plan option among the best Bluetooth speakers or a Boefier option that ranks among the best Wi-Fi speakers, which brings Audiophile Tech to a compact size.
