- Meta has two new smart glasses on the way
- Blayzer and Scriber Optics shapes are designed for people who wear prescription lenses
- The glasses are not cheap
Meta has just debuted a duo of new AI eyewear styles in its Ray-Ban line with smart specs, designed for people with prescriptions with designs aimed at “all-day wear.”
These new Blayzer and Scriber Optics shapes support “nearly all prescriptions” at launch (-6 to +6, with support for people with astigmatism as well), and according to Meta, they’re the company’s most comfortable AI glasses yet, with over-extension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and optician-adjustable temple tips that allow you to get a smart fit from all your glasses.
I already find the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses I own comfortable, but I have a few tweaks I’d make if I could – the replaceable nose pads, for example, would be a big help in getting my specs to fit better. The only downside is that these new glasses are quite a bit more expensive than Meta’s standard Ray-Ban smart glasses

The glasses are available right now in the US from $499, while in the UK and Australia they launch on April 14 for £429 / AU$709. Oh, and that’s before you pay extra for your prescription lenses (which cost different amounts based on how strong your corrective lenses need to be) and for add-ons like transition lenses that get shadowy when you’re in bright light.
Picking through all the most expensive options, I found a pair that cost $1,024 on the US pre-order site — though it looked like you could get a pair in the $599 to $799 range if you’re not going all out and have less severe vision correction needs.
But hey, at least you get a unique Dark Brown charging case – a change from the tan and limited edition black cases we’ve seen in the past.
If you’d rather splurge on Meta’s other glasses, a few new lens and frame options are on the way for them.
The Oakley Meta Vanguards get their first transitional lens, which is a huge win for the glasses, as their always shadowy options weren’t ideal for darker days. They are also joined by black and rose gold lenses.
Meanwhile, Oakley gets HSTN spec Dark Golf and clear-to-brown transition lenses to choose from.
