- Lenovo has revealed Yoga Solar PC over on MWC 2025
- The laptop on the laptop has a very effective solar panel built -in, one that can charge the battery, even in low light
- A lot of other notebooks have been displayed including several yoga models and an idea pad
Lenovo has revealed a cluster of new laptops on the MWC 2025 including a prototype of a yoga solar -powered notebook along with a number of other yoga models and a new takeover of an idea.
However, what is most attention to the show is that Yoga Solcar -PC, which, as noticed, is still a concept piece of hardware, so this is not something that comes through to production (at least not yet).
The laptop has a solar panel built into the lid using ‘Back Contact Cell’ technology, explains Lenovo, to get a high conversion frequency from the solar cells. The company claims a 24% conversion frequency from the solar energy recorded by the panel, which is against the top end of the efficiency scale in the solar industry right now (at least in the real world use).
Lenovo notes that the laptop uses a ‘dynamic sun tracking’ system that constantly monitors the solar panel’s current and voltage and ‘works with the solar -first energy system to automatically adjust the charger’s settings to prioritize sending the harvested energy to the system. ”
In other words, you get the most smell for the buck from the sun’s rays, and the panel is capable of collecting solar energy, even under low light conditions, Lenovo observes. So when it is outside even on a dull and cloudy day, the theory is that the Yoga -Solc -PC will be able to prevent the battery charging being depleted -at least while the laptop is still idling.
We only get a specific figure in terms of the kind of solar energy that can be on print here, which is that the panel can “absorb and convert enough direct sunlight in 20 minutes to light up to an hour’s video playback on the PC.”
Another notable plus point with yoga solar PC is that this is a thin-and-light device, despite the inclusion of this solar panel measuring 15 mm and weighing in 1.22 kg-imponing.
Lenovo plays a further game on the renewable energy front with Solar Power Kit for Yoga, another proof of concept that is basically a power bank that has a removable USB-C solar panel. This panel can be attached to your backpack or tent when you are out in the wild and pick up solar energy to change the bank’s battery and power your devices.
Of course, it’s still early days for these concepts, but here hope that one day, a solar-powered laptop, will be on our list of the best laptops-I can’t see why this won’t happen, it’s just a matter of time.
Yoga -Abarable computers plenty and some tempting choices for creative
Also on the MWC 2025, Lenovo revealed its Yoga Pro 9i Aura edition offering a 16-inch OLED screen with a 3.2K resolution, and tandem OLED technique, enabling a high level of brightness (1600 NITs) while maintaining the effect.
It is a very color curate (‘Puresight Pro’) screen that offers a 120Hz update speed and you can equip yoga-pro with up to an NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 5070 GPU. The CPU is up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H, so this can be specified as a very powerful laptop for creative types.
There will also be a Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i Aura edition that comes in a 14-inch rather than 16-inch form factor, along with an updated Yoga Pro 7 14-inch model.
Lenovo had other yoga models on the screen, including Yoga Slim 7 14-inch laptop, another laptop aimed at creators with a 22.5 hour battery life of 2.8,000 (and up to 22.5 hours of battery life).
Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 hybrids were also shown in both 16-inch and 14-inch flavors of these 360-degree convertible. For more information about all these yoga models, see Techradar Pro’s coverage here.
An everyday-a-notes book with an environmentally friendly twist
Those who are looking for more of an everyday laptop will be interested in learning about Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3x, a 15-inch notebook carrying the tagline ‘AI for someone.’
This one is a Copilot+ PC with a Snapdragon X (ARM-BASED) processor that is collaborated with a 60WHR battery for lots of long life away from an outlet, and a quick charging feature that only takes 15 minutes to give you two hours of battery. That kind of speed is always welcome in a pinch when you are leaving the house and realize that your notebook is running low on the battery.
Other remarkable attributes for IdeaPad Slim 3x include a metal cover and durability classified into a MIL-STD-810H standard, and there is the possibility of future expansion by adding another SSD via a free slot. It is always good to see upgrade options with notebooks as this is another (indirect) green -friendly opportunity to keep the unit relevant and usable in the future.
In Europe, most of these new laptops will emerge later this month, in March 2025, although the exceptions are Yoga Pro 7, which will only come before April, and the Yoga Pro 9i Aura edition, which will only arrive before June 2025.
