This week, Apple held its big annual iPhone launch event and managed to stuff in seven devices for us to be excited, including four new iPhones.
We also finally make the debut of Spotify Lossess. Better five years late than never.
To catch up on all this and more, roll down our overview of the seven greatest technological news stories of the week.
7. We tried Nikon Zr
The new Nikon ZR camera landed as the first in a new line with Nikon / Red Cinema cameras, making Nikon an important new player in this space-competitor who is even able to go toe to toe with big names like Sony and Canon in the category.
It packs a bunch of Nikon Z6 III Tech, including the same 24MP, partially stacked full-frame sensor, 5-axis image stabilization, topic-detection tracking autofocus and more in an extremely compact, weather-sealed cinema camera crash.
It boasts some great features to start, and to make things even better it costs only $ 2,199.95 / £ 2,199.99 / AU $ 3,499 – yes, it’s very much on your own, but knows that no other cinema camera is coming close to ZR to video features at this price point.
6. Bose fell new headphones
Stop with what you’re doing: The best Bose-Rogue Headphones (and undoubtedly the best ANC cans around, period) now have a sequel. See! Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2. Gen).
Apart from choosing new Colorways including ‘Driftwood Sand’ and ‘Midnight Violet’, Bose’s new flagship cans are now working with their USB-C cable for 16-bit/44.1 kHz or 48 kHz sound quality (and with 2.5 mm audio socket on the older model) just like the recent AirPods Max Update.
Elsewhere, a total of ten (10!) Microphones are combined inside and outside each ear cup now with an improved ActiveSense allorithm for “More precise adaptive noise cancellation and natural sound”, and Bose has increased endurance to a claimed 30 hours with ANC inserted into the updated model (although still 23 hours of submerged sound and Different degrees of spatial sound added to the mixture) or 45 hours with ANC off.
Pricing? They are expensive but only 2023 expensive …
5. Dolby Vision got a successor
Dolby announced Dolby Vision 2, the next generation of his HDR format. It is intended to have benefits for both cheaper TVs, where a new image analysis motor delivers even richer colors and better contrast in HDR and more expensive TVs. In the latter case there is another version of it, called Dolby Vision 2 Max. This brings tools to a more accurate image from today’s super-light TVs, and-for the first time-want Dolby Vision give TV/filmmakers control over your TV’s exercise smoothing settings. Yes, the director can tell your TV when to turn on and off to smooth and turn off and turn off this other.
Which TVs support this new HDR format? It’s complicated – Only Hisense is confirmed and other TV producers think about it.
4. Spotify finally found his lossless music
Earlier this week, the day when millions of loyal Spotify fans have been waiting for arriving, and Spotify Lossless is finally launching for premium subscribers. The rolling has already started for users and will expand to over 50 different regions in October.
The most surprising thing is that despite the rumors, Spotify Tabless is free and offers a bit rate of up to 24bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, which is actually better than CD quality. The streaming service added that lossless will be available across ‘almost every song’ but has not delivered an exact number.
Spotify Tabless will also be available across a variety of devices from mobile, to desktop and tablet offering compatibility with devices that support Spotify Connect including Sony, Bose, Sennheiser and more. When it comes to enabling loss -free, all you have to do is go to media quality in settings and then choose lossless under the low, normal, high and very high audio settings.
3. Apple gave us new AirPods Pro
Alongside new iPhones, we also got just new AirPods Pro 3 – which is a successor of AirPods Pro 2, which according to Apple are the most popular headphones ever.
So does the new model enough to convince people to upgrade? Well among the new features is a built-in heart rate sensor that, in combination with the built-in motion sensors, can apparently track 50 training types-ninen Apple Watch is needed. They also get live translation. Apple says you can squeeze both stems to begin live translation, and the ANC is kicked in to reduce their voice a little when you get the translation.
2. New Apple -ure reached longer than ever
While the iPhone 17 series was big news, Fitness Wearables also got a lot of limelight. The Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 got an upgrade that people asked for-getting battery-life-together with 5G capacities, satellite messages for Apple Watch Ultra 3 to connect from the desert, scratch-resistant screens and a very guard hypertension detection function designed to monitor blood pressure.
Meanwhile, the Apple Watch arrived see 3 to end the range Refresh with quick charge, the latest Watcho’s 26 features and the same powerful S10 chip as the other watches in the line, which means it has access to neat stream-tricks as Gestus control. All that and it’s still a great value for $ 249 / £ 219 / AU $ 399 as well.
1. Apple debuted 4 new iPhones
If we had to choose two words to describe the launch of iPhone 17, they would be “thin” and “orange”. Of course, we got four new iPhones across three different styles and different sizes, specifications and capabilities, but people will talk about the cosmic orange iPhone 17 Pro and the quite thin and durable iPhone air for a long time. And no, it’s not a typo. Apple’s Plus replacement avoids numerology and focuses on the amazing build that is the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever built. To the other hand, it bends, but does not break and then jumps right back in shape (we have the video to prove it).
Apart from thinness and the bold new color, the setup got new silicon in the form of the A19 and A19 Pro and new cameras that bring topics closer than ever before. Techradar tests the phones, but you can read all our first impressions.
