Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that if ISI and RAW are sitting together, there may be a significant decrease in terrorist activities in the region. The chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) turned to a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday.
Bilawal, who led a high -level parliamentary delegation, condemned India’s illegal strikes inside Pakistan on May 7 and called them a violation of the United Nations Charter and International Law.
He said the attacks targeted civil infrastructure, places for worship, dams and water and energy facilities, causing civilian losses, including women and children.
He accused India of using the Pahagam attack on April 22 in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a pretext for aggression. “We express our sympathy with the victims of terrorism, and Pakistan has consistently condemned terrorism in all its forms,” he added.
Bilawal remembered that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, after the Pahagam attack, offered Pakistan’s cooperation in any impartial international investigation, confident in Pakistan’s innocence. However, India rejected the offer and launched strikes that Pakistan responded in self -defense by taking down six Indian aircraft that had attacked its territory.
He emphasized that subsequent missile attacks were exchanged between the two countries before a ceasefire was broken, which credited the international community – especially US President Donald Trump and State Secretary Marco Rubio – to facilitate the ceasefire.
Bilawal warned that although the ceasefire is a welcome first step, the risk of full -scale conflict remains between two nuclear armed neighbors dangerously high.
“The threshold for war has been lowered, not risen,” he said, calling on the global community to continue to pursue dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to lasting peace.
This is an evolving story.
