Islamabad:
Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given bail to a person arrested in a blasphemy case in 2023, considering the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency’s (NCCIA) who is missing after completing the investigation despite two years.
An IHC bench consisting of Justice Babar Sattar on Tuesday heard the bail application of Asimullah, which was filed through his lawyer Asif Ali Tamboli. The lawyer claimed that the defendants had been in custody since October 30, 2023, but the investigation remained incomplete.
Justice Sattar asked why the investigation had not ended despite two years of detention.
NCCIA officials told the court that Asimullah had been added to a WhatsApp group, from which there was divorced content, and based on the tracing of SIM he was arrested in 2023. At the court’s investigation on the ownership of SIM, NCCIA officials admitted to the name of whose name was registered.
