IHC stops FBR Officers’ Campaigns to Class 22

Islamabad:

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a residence order that prevents High-Powered Selection Board (HPSB) from continuing campaigns of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers from class 21 to class 22 until the next consultation.

Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, while hearing a petition filed by FBR officer Shah Bano, instructed HPSB that HPSB may not convene the promotion of FBR officers by March 12.

The court ordered that the relevant FBR officials were immediately informed of the order via telephone, which ensures that they are aware of the legal procedure before the official document is signed.

IHC has sought declarations from the FBR chairman and the secretary of the Prime Minister. The FBR chairman must confirm that no summary has been forwarded regarding the placement of the contractor in the administrative pool, while the secretary of the Prime Minister must confirm that no such summary has been received from the FBR chairman.

The court warned that if the declarations are not submitted, the relevant summary must be taken before the next hearing.

Shah Bano had approached IHC to get his name included in HPSB’s consideration for promotion to class 22 from class 21.
