- A new Ikea Smart Home Switch called Bilresa is just leaked
- It apparently supports case-over-thread for maximum compatibility
- This means it should work with Google Home, Apple HomeKit and Alexa
IKEA will soon be planning to increase its smart home offers, according to a new leak that has revealed a practical two-button Smart Switch that supports the case-over-thread.
A picture of the incoming IKEA Bilresa (below) was revealed by Homewithapple on threads (via notebookcheck). There is no IKEA branding on the device, so it’s hard to be absolutely sure if it’s real, but it would certainly make sense considering IKEA’s increasingly strong push in matter-supporting devices.
Bilresa is likely to be IKEA’s first smart switch to support case-over-thread, which means it will work with your existing Google Home, Apple Homekit and Amazon Alexa Kit. The leak suggests that Bilresa is “still in the internal test phase at IKEA”, so there is currently not an estimated launch date, but we can probably expect it sometime in 2025.
While IKEA already has other smart light switches – including Somrig (above) and rooted – these are largely limited to controlling IKEA’s own accessories, like its trad -free light. Thanks to Matter Support, Bilresa should play nicely with your other kit, like Philips Hue Lights and the best smart home devices.
This means that I could find myself to pick up one under a marketplace, especially if it is as affordable as IKEA’s current offer. There is no word yet about the carresa price fixing, but IKEA controllable controller costs £ 12 (about $ 15 / AU $ 25), which attaches it to impulse buy territory.
IKEA embraces fabric
Apart from its probable tempting price tag, the appeal to the leaked IKEA Bilresa will be its versatility. In theory, its case-over-thread support should mean that it works with most existing smart home sets, which means you can become creative with your use cases.
Last September, two years after announcing the support was coming, Ikea finally updated its Dirrea Smart Home Hub with Matter Support. But the Swedish Homeware giant now seems to be ramping up with its matter-supporting smart home offers.
In a separate leakage earlier this month, the brilliant named Timmer Flotte-Unity appeared to be a temperature and humidity sensor-in some FCC archives discovered by cyber -godstudio on X (formerly Twitter). Like Bilresa, it seems to support case-over-thread.
This means that we will soon have some new challenges for our guide to the best smart switches, which are currently topped by Philips Hue Tap Dial Switch and TP-Link Tapo Smart Switch.
None of them can be purchased with a shelf and meatballs in a huge home plate shop.
