Illinois -Lawlator urges Trump to draw school’s funding over alleged violation

Rep. Mary Miller, R-Aill., has called on President Donald Trump to “pull all federal funding” from a district in the state after a mother claimed that her daughter and other students were forced to change in front of a trans -gender student in girls’ dressing room.

Miller published a message on social media on Tuesday and called the claim an “irregular violation” of the young girls’ privacy and Trumps “To keep men out of women’s sports” Executive Order, which effectively banned trans participation in women’s and girls’ sports.

“Forcing young girls to dress in front of a biological man is not only perverse-it is an eerie violation of their privacy and President Trump’s executive order to protect girls in only female spaces,” Miller’s post read.

“I urge President Trump to immediately withdraw all federal funding from the Deerfield School District! I stand firm with Nicole Georgas, a bold and brave Illinois mother, by defending the rights of our daughters.”

Miller’s post came almost a week after Georgas spoke during a board meeting for Deerfield Public School District 109. During her speech, she accused her daughter’s school administrators of trying to force her 13-year-old daughter and others to change in front of a trans-gender student in a girls’ dressing room after the girls previously protested to switch to their uniforms to a physical training class.

“The girls want their dressing room and bathrooms back. They want their privacy back. That’s why I’m here tonight. My 13-year-old daughter’s well-being, mental health and privacy are at stake,” Georgas said.

Georgas explained that her daughter first complained in early February that she was using the girls’ bathroom when a trans student also used the facility. She said the administration later explained that “a student can use the bathroom as well as a female dressing room because they now identify themselves as female.”

The problem escalated days later when Georgas ‘daughter refused to change in front of a trans student in girls’ dressing room. Other students followed her protest, but that was when Georgas claimed school administrators stepped in.

“That day, [Assistant Superintendent for Student Services] Joanna Ford, [Assistant Principal] Cathy van Treese and several teachers all came into girls’ changing rooms, causing them to change to uniform. This went all week, “she said, adding that her daughter still” refused to attend. ”

Georgas said she filed a complaint with civil rights to the Ministry of Justice last month.

However, in a statement to Pakinomist Digital, Deerfield Public School’s District said no students were or was required to change in front of others in the dressing room, adding that the school’s policies are in line with state law.

“District 109 is obliged to provide a learning environment in which all students and staff are respected and supported. Our policies and procedures, including students’ use of changing rooms, adapted to state laws, Illinois School Code and Illinois State Board of Education Guidance.

“No students have to switch to a gymnasium uniform for physical training class in front of others in dressing rooms. All students in middle schools have several opportunities to change in a private place if they wish.”

The Trump administration has entered several states accused of violating the executive order. Most notably spared Trump and Maine Government Janet Mills publicly over federal funding.

Last week, the US Department of Agriculture paused funding to the University of Maine System, a network of eight public colleges in the state, but days later, US senator Susan Collins‘The office said the financing freezing had turned.
