LAHORE:
Human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari has said that the recently approved 27th amendment aims to create lifelong acceptance of top positions and has further weakened an already fragile legal structure.
Speaking at a public gathering on political rights, she argued that the change has raised serious concerns about judicial independence, as any judge will now face the constant threat of transfer, limiting the space for independent decision-making.
Imaan said it was important to inform citizens about the implications of the change, noting that any judge who rules against the government could face consequences under the new regime.
