A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has arrived in Pakistan in order to conduct a comprehensive review of government and corruption issues.

According to sources, the IMF team begins with Pakistani officials on Monday.

The mission’s primary goal is to provide technical assistance to improve Pakistan’s reform capacity. The discussions will focus on strengthening governance and tackling corruption questions with the aim of supporting Pakistan’s reform efforts.

Sources say the IMF team will undergo budget proposals for the financial year 2025-26 and participate in follow-up negotiations on technical support for government issues.

The delegation will also discuss measures to improve tax revenue, control public spending and conclude proposals for the upcoming budget with the Ministry of Finance.

The federal budget for the financial year 2025-26 is expected to be presented in the National Assembly during the first week of June.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently famous the Pakistani government for its fiscal efforts, especially by reducing public debt, controlling inflation, increasing tax justice and maintaining price stability. This recognition was issued on March 26.

In addition, last month, the IMF reached an agreement with Pakistan on a new $ 1.3 billion scheme and agreed on the first review of the current 37-month Bailout program, according to the IMF’s statement.
