ISLAMABAD:

Aleema Khan, sister of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan, said on Saturday that the former prime minister spoke to her sons for about 20 minutes and was “extremely happy to hear their voices”.

“The Supreme Commander of Pakistan had allowed Imran Khan to speak to his sons. We can confirm that he was able to speak to them for about 20 minutes. His sons shared that he was extremely happy to hear their voices after such a long time,” Aleema said in a post on X.

“We are now awaiting his urgent medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad under the supervision of his personal doctors, where specialists will do everything possible to restore his sight. The deliberate delay in giving him timely treatment has already caused damage to his sight,” she added. “We cannot and will not tolerate any further delay and immediate specialist treatment is essential to prevent a permanent loss of sight.”

IHC plea

The PTI has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking suspension of the sentence and release on bail of former prime minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana II case. The party has also filed a separate miscellaneous application requesting early scheduling of the sentencing hearing in the £190 million case.

The petitions have been filed through advocate Salman Safdar and advocate Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.

The petitions state that the PTI founder is suffering from a serious condition affecting his right eye. According to Dr. Muhammad Arif of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has had a blood clot severely affect his right eye, reducing the vision in that eye to just 15 percent. The application claims that this condition cannot be properly treated in prison.
