Islamabad:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Foundation Chairman Imran Khan has filed a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking the formation of a medical board consisting of doctors from Shakat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) for his monthly health examinations, stating his weight loss and the risk of several diseases.
The petition, filed through Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Monday, requests the court to order an immediate medical examination within three days of temporary relief.
It also seeks directives for the exam reports, which must be shared with both the court and IMRAN’s family until a final decision is reached.
The placement maintains that IMRAN’s weight has fallen, creating fears of underlying medical conditions.
Meanwhile, the two sisters of the prisoner, according to KP lawyer Shah Faisal, have confirmed his noticeable weight loss, which they believe could be a symptom of illness.
In a speech with Express News, Faisal said IMRAN was not getting meetings at the moment, adding that during a rare visit of his sisters, they observed noticeable weight loss.
“Weight loss is often a sign of some underlying illness. Therefore, the minister of chief instructed the filing of this petition in IHC to constitute a board of Directors of Shaukat Khanum doctors for his study so that diagnosis and treatment can begin. This is a matter of basic human rights,” he said.
The application, filed by Chief Minister Gandapur’s lawyer, lawyer Raja Zahoorul Hassan, emphasizes that Imran, 72, requires routine medical evaluations. It notes that his weight during his imprisonment has fallen and raised concerns about his health.
It also points out that SKMCH already has IMRAN’s complete medical history and requests the right to allow his medical team to conduct monthly studies and necessary tests.
