On behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, a petition has been filed in Islamabad High Court to make him undergo medical tests and examinations at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital every month.
The petition was filed through Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. It is asking the court to issue directions allowing the former prime minister to receive regular medical check-ups on Shaukat Khanum, “in accordance with his medical history and current state of health.”
The application names the Punjab Home Secretary, the Inspector General of Prisons, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail, the Medical Superintendent and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital as respondents.
The petitioner has asked the court to order that medical teams be given full access to the PTI founder and that monthly examination reports be shared with both his family and the court.
The plea said the PTI founder, a former prime minister, is facing “certain medical problems” and requires specialized care. It is also claimed that he was sentenced “at the behest of the current government as part of political victimization.”
It further claims that to ensure justice and appropriate treatment, the former premier “should have improved medical facilities, best provided by Shaukat Khanum Hospital.”
