Imran Khan asks PTI to boycott at election, quit committee

Islamabad:

Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has instructed the party not to participate in upcoming elections advising parliamentary members to resign from all committees and refer the matter to the party’s political committee for final consultation.

The instructions were forwarded during a meeting in Adiala prison with his sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, as well as senior party leaders Barriste Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja and Barrister Ali Zafar.

In a speech with the media after the meeting, Aleema said IMRAN repeated his regular opposition to city-polls and urged all PTI legislators to resign parliamentary committees.

“The political committee will consider the matter, but Khan Sahib has made his attitude clear: To go into these choices would validate the illegal disqualifications and selective justice we are facing,” she said.

“He asked us to convey a clear message: keeping me in lonely inclusion will give no results,” Aleema quoted him as saying. She also quoted her brother who confirmed his determination and said, “I will not bow, nor will I make any appointment.”

While confirming that her brother was in stable health, she noticed that he was experiencing an eye state that required medical attention. “We submit a request to the Court on Medical Investigation, and PIMS doctors will soon carry out a check,” she added.

Aleema added that Imran condemned the current state of the media and said “Mainstream media has lost credibility among the public” and was under state control.

In regional policy, he expressed opposition to the forced re -patriation of Afghan refugees and called it a violation of Islamic values. “He said he was ashamed of how Afghans were treated,” noted Aleema.

The PTI founder also expressed grief over flood-related destruction in buns and other areas, emphasizing the need to appreciate the long-term significance of billions of Tree Tsunami project.

When he turned to personal complaints, Aleema and Uzma condemned the arrest of their sons Shershah and Shahrez. “Shahrez is a businessman and has represented Pakistan in sports. What threat did he make up?” Uzma asked. Aleema added: “If they want to arrest someone, you have to arrest me – but targeted at our children reveal their fears.”

She further revealed that Imran refused to accept the resignation presented by party secretary Salman Akram Raja, and instructed him to continue his responsibility. She also rejected rumors of any friction between her and Salman Akram Raja and called him a “trusted legal adviser and part of the family.”

When he spoke separately with the media, Raja said his resignation had not been accepted. He confirmed that the party’s political committee would restore later in the evening to end the strategy for elections.

“We discussed national questions, the situation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa after the floods, and the difficulties facing Bushra Bibi facing detention,” he added, noting that Khan remained engaged and composed despite the conditions of lonely inclusion.

Meanwhile, Barrister Gohar told journalists that PTI was planning a large public rally in September to demand the court’s independence and KHAN’s release. “It will be a rally for democracy and freedom of legal,” he said.

He also confirmed that Khan’s basic prison rights had been restored, including access to books and television.
