Imran Khan has taken over the role of cartridge-in-chief for Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), while Barrister Gohar Ali Khan will continue to act as chairman of the Embatted Party.

In a speech with journalists outside Adiala Prison on Tuesday, where IMRAN is imprisoned, Barrister Gohar said the responsibility for organizing nationwide protests has been awarded from Ali Amin Gandapur to Omar Ayub and Salman Akram Raja.

“PTI founder Imran Khan has not specified a timeframe for the protest movement, but will personally make a decision soon,” he added. “Our party is not currently in conversations with anyone, but the PTI founder has kept the opportunity to negotiate with the establishment open.”

Barrister Gohar further stated that during a recent meeting, Imran declared that all doors have been closed to him and that there is no option left than launching a protest movement.

“Instead of calling for a protest in Islamabad alone, demonstrations will now be held across the country, and Khan Sahib will lead the movement himself,” he said.

The PTI founder has instructed that all directions related to the protest movement are given to Omar Ayub. He also declared that from now on he will be PTI’s protector of PTI and will continue to make all decisions as before.

Barrister Gohar tried to bring rumors of his removal from the presidency and called them “baseless and spread by evil people.” He warned that everyone knows the consequences if the party no longer has a chairman. Imran Khan has not expressed any lack of confidence in the party leadership and recognizes the victims made by the members.

Barrister Gohar also said that he has always succeeded in solving problems through dialogue and still believes this is the best approach. He claimed that there was rigging in the election in Sialkot (Sambarial) and that the PTI founder has always shown flexibility even while in prison for the last two years. He reiterated that PTI has supported the government in difficult times and will never try to hurt Pakistan.

“We want to protest peacefully – that’s our democratic right,” the PTI chairman said, adding that Imran Khan’s lawsuit is either not being planned or not being heard and that decisions are delayed on reserved seats. “We want common sense to prevail,” he added.
