Rawal Pindi: Prisoned Pakistan Tehreek-In-Insaf (PTI) Founder Image Imran Khan has declared himself that the former reigning party in the midst of internal anxiety, while Barrister Gohar Ali Khan will continue to act as party chairman, highlighted on Tuesday.
The move followed the party’s announcement of a nationwide protest drive to overthrow the PML-N-led coalition government and regain what it called its ‘stolen mandate’. PTI has not yet announced the date of its proposed protest.
When he spoke with journalists after his meeting with Khan in Central Prison Adiala in Rawalpindi today, PTI chairman Gohar said: “PTI -founder says he himself will lead the protest movement.”
Gohar, who quoted Khan, said all instructions on the protest movement will be given to Omar Ayub. He said the PTI founder had not yet delivered any timeframe for the protest.
“PTI founder says he will be the cartridge-in-the-chief of PTI from today and in the future,” the PTI chairman said, adding that all decisions would be made by the PTI founder, just as they were before.
In response to a question, Gohar rejected the rumors of his removal as PTI chairman. “Everyone knows what the consequences will be if the party does not have a chairman,” he added.
Cm Gandapur will not lead the upcoming protest
When he spoke with the media, the PTI chairman said the responsibility for the protests had always been awarded to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, but this time would be different.
“Different people will be assigned different responsibilities with regard to the protest movement,” he added.
To another question, he said the PTI founder did not express any lack of confidence in party leadership.
Gohar said he still wanted the problems to be solved through dialogue, adding that the PTI founder has kept the opportunity for negotiations with the establishment open.
