Senior Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Khan Swati claimed on Tuesday that the party’s founder Imran Khan has agreed to hold negotiations.
In a speech with journalists outside an anti-terrorism in Lahore, Swati said Imran Khan is deeply concerned about the country’s future and welfare for future generations. “The whole nation now stands with the PTI founder,” he said.
Swati also said that any dialogue that takes place would be productive when it begins.
SWATI was in court to attend hearings in connection with several arson, including the Jinnah House incident. Anti-Terrorism Court extended its preliminary bail until May 13.
The prosecution stated the court that the Case Register is currently in the Supreme Court, where Bailing petitions are undergoing review. The court ordered the prosecution to present the items during the next consultation.
Earlier, PTI distanced itself from reports suggesting that senior party member Azam Swati is involved in conversations with the military company, with party secretary General Salman Akram Raja that such acts have not been sanctioned by party leadership.
“The allegations of an agreement between Azam Swati and the establishment have no connection with PTI. He speaks in his personal trait,” said Akram Raja.
In response to questions about why senior leaders were not yet allowed to meet party founder Imran Khan, Raja suggested that the delay were intentional.
“It seems that efforts are being made to create ambiguity. When we meet him, it will be clear if he has approved any dialogue,” he said.
Raja emphasized that no negotiations or decisions could be confirmed without direct consultation with Imran Khan.
