- Imran’s accounts allegedly used to target the army, Coas Asim Munir.
- The PTI founder is likely to have implications in the event of criminal case.
- Only imprisoned ex-PM, Aleema affects content shared on these accounts.
Islamabad: All the three leading verified and official social media accounts for Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) -Inrankhan, Tehreek-E-Insaf and Ptiofficial hear to the prison founder Party President Imran Khan and currently runs off to Khan’s instruction that has gone through his sister Aleema Khan.
Official probe in PTI’s social media platforms – which is alleged to have been used to target the army, army chief Asim Munir and for some aggressive campaigns – show that these reports are run from abroad by persons appointed by IMRAN who had created these accounts.
In the event of criminal case on the basis of the government’s probe, there would be direct consequences for Imran Khan as these accounts are alleged to share anti-army and ant-state content belonging to him.
Sources claimed that not only Imran himself confirmed this to the FIA in the past, but some of the PTI leaders, currently being questioned by a joint investigative team (JIT) led by Islamabad -Inspector General for Police (IGP), also shared the same information.
Apart from Imran and Aleema, no party leader, including PTI chairman Barrister Gohar, Secretary -General Suleman Akram Raja and even the party’s information secretary Shaikh Waqa’s Acram, have any influence or say on the content shared in these accounts, which have a large number of the following.
These sources claimed that Jibran Ilyas and Azhar Mashwani are driving IMRAN’s social media accounts from abroad. Ilyas, who lives in the United States, is said to be the leader of PTI’s social media team. He is also said to be in contact with various V-loggers and social media activists. Mashwani, who was in Pakistan, had reportedly left to the United Kingdom after the crash of the authorities after May-May against PTI.
It is alleged that Aleema gives birth to the party’s official social media on the instructions of Imran Khan. It is said that she is in regular contact with Ilyas, Mashwani and Ali Malik for the party’s narrative building, social media campaigns and other positions, some of which are considered by the government and the establishment as anti-army and anti-Pakistan. It is said that Aleema is also in contact with some YouTubers, currently abroad.
PTI’s social media has been on the authorities’ radar because of its alleged anti-state and anti-warm content. Some probes were led before, while a Jit led by Islamabad IGP was recently created to investigate “malicious campaigns on social media”.
According to media reports, JIT issued messages to 15 members of the former reigning party. Some of them have appeared before Jit, while several others have not yet responded to JIT’s messages.
Among those called by Jit, PTI chairman Gohar, Hammad Azhar, Salman Akram Raja, Raoof Hasan, Asad Qaiser, Aun Abbas and Waqas Akram. Others include Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Khalid Khurshid Khan, Aliya Hamza, Kanwal Shauzab, Taimoor Saleem Khan, Shah Farman, Shehbaz Shabbir and Mian Muhammad Aslam.
Jit had also issued a call to 10 members of PTI’s social media team, including Asif Rasheed, Muhammad Arshad, Sibghatullah Warq, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Nauman Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, Syed Salman Raza Zaidi, Zulfi Bukhari, Moosa Warqq and Ali Husnain.
