Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur said Wednesday that Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has agreed to participate in political dialogue, Express News reported.
“Those who transform this into a question of ego are hurting Pakistan. We must rise over personal interests and think in the national interest,” said Gandapur while talking to journalists in Peshawar. “Imran Khan has agreed to negotiate and has obviously said he is ready to speak for improving Pakistan,” he added.
CM also dealt with ongoing legal efforts on KHAN’s release. “Petitions are underway for Imran Khan’s release,” he noted and added, “as CEO of a province, I have a judicial decision that allows me to meet him weekly. These meetings are crucial to consultation, especially with the provincial budget approaching.”
In the stressful importance of Khan’s input in provincial governance, Gandapur said: “Imran Khan is the leader of the party who controls the province. His vision must be reflected in our policy. If I am not allowed to meet him, how can I implement that vision?”
He also criticized the current federal leadership and accused it of the country’s instability. “Pakistan is undergoing a phase of severe instability, and that root cause lies with those currently in power,” he said.
Negotiations between the government and the opposition began in December 2024 with the aim of finding a mutually acceptable solution to the country’s political and economic crises and to solve many years of disputed issues. However, the process hit a disadvantage after only three rounds of conversations.

During the third round, PTI presented a charter with requirements and called the proposals a “prerequisite for broader negotiations” on other issues. Seven days later, Khan suddenly ended the dialogue and stated that the government had failed to meet the party’s demand to form a Court Commission within a week.
A day after KHAN’s announcement opposite PTI leader Barrister Gohar a little declaration and suggested that the negotiations had just been put on hold.
Then, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif PTI invited to resume dialogue through a parliamentary committee. However, the imprisoned PTI founded founder, and eventually dissolved the party’s negotiating committee and instructed its members instead of acting as a coordination committee tasked with building a magnificent opposition alliance.
