A Gujranwala-Anti terrorism court on Saturday sentenced the most important accused in the murder trial of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) foundation chairman Imran Khan under Wazirabad, Punjab attacked two separate living conditions and imposed a fine of RS1.5 million.
On November 3, 2022, a gunman, Naveed Bashir, opened during the long march of the former ruling party in Wazirabad, a gunman, Naveed Bashir, and injured Imran Khan, Senator Faisal Javed and several others and killed a PTI worker. Police arrested the primary shooting game on site.
Imran had accused the then coalition government, including the federal Interior Minister, of being involved in the plot. The first information report (FIR) on the incident was registered at the city’s police station, Wazirabad, November 7, and a joint investigative team (JIT) was formed under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
On Saturday, ATC judge Muhammad Naeem Saleem agreed the verdict in the case after a hearing. The court sentenced the most important accused, crooked, to two living conditions on charges of murder and terrorism. Other two co-accused Tayyab Jahangir Butt and Waqas were acquitted after gaining the benefit of the doubt. Attorney Imran Abbas Supra declared that the prosecution could not present witnesses against butt.
According to a guarantee of commitment to judgment issued to the superintendent of the Gujranwala Central Prison, Naveed was sentenced to life prison under Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) section 302B (overlooked murder) and Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) section 7a (punishment for acts of terrorism).
According to the two sections, the penalty was also ordered to pay compensation of RS500,000 to the legal heirs of the killed PTI worker Moazzam in the form of arrears of land revenue, with additional simple jail for six months in case of non -payment and paying a fine of RS500,000, with additional prison for six months in case of default.
As a refund for Areeb, which suffered injuries to the attack, the criminal sentence was sentenced to strict prison for 10 years for causing damage during PPC-§ 324 (attempt to commit Qatl-I-amd) along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; string prison for 10 years for causing damage under ATA section 7B and 7C along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; And to pay Daman at RS100,000 and string prison of three years for causing damage to PPC section 337-FIII (Mutafahimah to any person).
As a refund regarding Meer Umar Farooq, another man injured in the incident, the criminal sentence was sentenced to strict prison for 10 years for causing damage to PPC -§ 324 along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; string prison for 10 years for causing damage under ATA section 7B and 7C along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; And to pay Daman at RS100,000 and string prison of five years for causing damage to PPC section 337-FV (Hashimah to any person).
As a refund regarding IMRAN YOUSAF, Naveed was sentenced to strict prison for 10 years for causing damage to PPC section 324 (attempt to commit Qatl-I-amd) along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; string prison for 10 years for causing damage under ATA section 7B and 7C along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; And to pay Daman at RS100,000 and string prison of three years for causing damage to PPC section 337-FIII (Mutafahimah to any person).
As a refund regarding Muhammad Liaquat, the criminal sentence was sentenced to a string prison for 10 years for causing damage under PPC § 324 (attempt to commit Qatl-I-amd) along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; string prison for 10 years for causing damage under ATA section 7B and 7C along with a fine of RS100,000 with additional simple prison for six months in case of default; And to pay Daman at RS100,000 and string prison of three years for causing damage to PPC section 337-FIII (Mutafahimah to any person).
The warrant said the judgments would run simultaneously and the conviction could use the benefit of section 382-B of the criminal case (withholding period to be considered while awarding imprisonment).
