Islamabad:

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi have turned to Islamabad High Court (IHC) to challenge the verdict of a court of responsibility that convicted them in the 190 million -pound corruption case on January 17.

Imran’s petition claimed that his beliefs are unfair, unfair and appears to be a direct manifestation of political viking orchestrated by his opponents and the sitting government.

“Since the disastrous removal of the appellant from the Prime Minister’s office, he has been the victim of nearly 280 criminal prosecutions, emphasizing the merciless and targeted nature of these legal actions.

“The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been visibly manipulated as a political tool by the appellant’s political opponents, with its resources repeatedly used to determine political results,” it said.

The placement declared that Imran’s conviction and judgment in the case represented Nab’s third attempt to target him and make him sacrifice politically.

The central purpose of this prosecution, claimed it seemed to be to secure their imprisonment, prevent his participation in Pakistan’s national politics and further hinder his political influence.

It said PTI founder Imran Khan has been a victim of repeated prosecution, each of which has culminated in judgments that, in turn, have led to bail, conditional judgments and any acquittals.

“These legal results have finally shown that the appellant does not show any criminal trends or engage in illegal activities.

“It is crucial to note that in all these prosecutions, no private person has been offended and the cases have been initiated and pursued by the state at the request of political opponents.

“Given the appellant’s status as a political prisoner and the ongoing, unprecedented and relentless political sacrifice, he has faced the demands of an honorable acquittal.

“Such an acquittal would not only correct the obvious injustice, but also confirm the basic principles of justice and impartiality that should lead the legal process,” added it.
