Islamabad/ Rawalpindi:
Head of the opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub has said that the imprisoned PTI founder, Imran Khan, neither seeking an agreement nor accepting any gentleness, declares him and other retained PTI leaders as political prisoners.
In a speech with the media in Islamabad on Monday, he said the PTI management, including the imprisoned party founder, is detained on political reasons. “Even biscuits thefts have been filed against me,” he said.
“We are part of the state, but the definition of ‘state’ promoted by the current rulers is completely different,” he complained.
He criticized what he described as the distorted understanding of state and urged opponents to read the Constitution to understand the concept of the state. “Pakistan is not a tough state because there is no rule of law here. The law of the jungle reigns.”
Omar Ayub emphasized that Imran Khan neither seeking nor accepting an agreement nor admission. He also condemned the politicization of the prisoners’ sisters and said that they only engage in family visits, not political activity.
The opposition leader, who rejected rumors of his resignation, claimed, “A politician must always be prepared for election and death.”
Meanwhile, senior PTI managers have submitted two separate lists of visitors – one for legal representatives and one for family members – to Adiala prison authorities prior to a scheduled meeting with IMRAN.
According to the party’s spokesman Niazullah Niazi, the lists include 12 names in total: six legal representatives and six family members.
The Legal Team’s list was faxed by PTI-President Guest Gohar Ali Khan, while the family members’ list was sent by PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja.
