Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that Pakistan’s attitude towards Palestine is categorical and unshakable, adding that the government also plays an ‘active role’ to ensure release of retained Pakistani citizens aboard Global Freedom Flotilla.
The premiere made these comments during a telephone conversation with Jamaat-I-islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Friday. Both leaders exchanged views on the Middle East crisis, the situation in Kashmir and the detention of Pakistani nationals of Israeli authorities.
According to the Prime Minister’s office, Shehbaz emphasized the importance of an immediate stop to the hostilities in Gaza and called for what he called the “ongoing massacre of innocent Palestinians.” “Pakistan’s attitude towards Palestine is categorical and unshakable. We have always raised our voice to our Palestinian brothers and sisters on every global forum and will continue to do so,” he said.

When he repeated Pakistan’s long-standing position, Premier emphasized support for a two-state solution with before-1967 borders and al-QD’s al-Sharif as the Palestinian capital.
He added that eight Muslim countries made “active and coordinated efforts” to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. “We hope this effort will soon bear fruit, which brings peace as well as the long -awaited dream of an independent Palestinian state,” he said.
Upon detention of Pakistanis aboard the global freedom flotilla, including former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, the prime minister said the government played an “active role” to secure their release.

“Pakistan does not recognize the Israeli state and does not have diplomatic relations with it.
The two leaders also discussed the situation in Kashmir, where the prime minister confirmed the federal government’s obligation to “play its full role” in securing peace in the region.
Meanwhile, in a post on X, Rehman confirmed his conversation with the prime minister and said he had called on the prime minister to “speed up the effort” of the release and improvement of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan. He said the Prime Minister informed him that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had been assigned this responsibility.

Calling the flotilla attack and arresting ‘highly condemned’ emphasized Hafiz Naeem that the case was of national importance and not limited to Ji. The JI leader also said he had conveyed to the leading his party and the country’s strong reservations over US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan.
“Pakistan must remain firm in demand for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Pakistan should not support any plan that ultimately strengthens Israel,” he said.
At Kashmir, Rehman emphasized the need for the government to deal with the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir with caution. “We reminded the Prime Minister that Kashmiris loves Pakistan, and any irresponsible attitude from the administration could harm both Pakistan and the Kashmir case and give an opportunity for the enemy to exploit,” he said.
He urged the government to resolve the problem responsibly through dialogue, while ensuring that the views of a few individuals are not projected as representing the entire Kashmiri population.
