India asked to respect people’s rights in IIOJK

Islamabad:

Pakistan said Friday that India must respect the inalienable rights of the Kashmiri people, most importantly their basic right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant the United Nations Security Council solutions.

In a statement, spokesman for the Foreign Office said, “Pakistan believes that the road to lasting peace and stability in South Asia lies in the solution of Kashmir -Tvisten.”

He said, “The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) freely enjoy their civil and political rights and actively participate in shaping their democratic future.”

He said that Pakistan remained permanently engaged in maintaining his dignity, protecting its rights, including the right to peaceful assembly and protesting, respecting its feelings and promoting its socio -economic development.

“This commitment not only reflects our constitutional responsibility, but also our sustained moral obligation to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

He said, “in sharp contrast continued our brothers and sisters in Indian illegal Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to a gloomy reality during occupation.”

“The use of brute force, denial of basic freedoms and systematic and serious violations of human rights has become characteristic of India’s state-sponsored terrorism against the innocent Kashmiri people to suppress their fair struggles,” he continued, adding, “efforts to silence dissence, demographic construction and denial of civil freedom.”

He said, “Instead of throwing unjustified ambitions of AJK, India must count on its obligations under international law and the UN -Charter.”
