In a step that has drawn criticism from religious leaders and advocates of Interfaith Harmony, the Indian government has prevented the Sikh pilgrims from traveling to Pakistan to participate in the annual martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru.
Despite this restriction, Pakistan’s Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara organized the PARBANDHAK committee (PSGPC) a symbolic reception at Laore’s Wagah border on Sunday, expressing solidarity with the Sikh Society and foreign interrelation.
The main ceremony, which marks Guru Arjan Dev Jis Martyrdom, is held in Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore on June 16, with invitations expanded to Sikh pilgrims from all over the world, including India.
According to the event plan, the Indian pilgrims were scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on June 9. However, continuous tension between India and Pakistan led, and the border of the border led the Indian government to block its citizens from taking on the pilgrimage.

By tacking the collection, additional secretary shrines said Saifullah Khokhar that, according to a bilateral agreement, up to 1,000 Indian Sikh pilgrims are authorized to visit Pakistan for Martyrdom’s anniversary events.
“Unfortunately, the Indian government this year not only denied permission for its pilgrims, but has also kept the Kartarpur corridor closed,” Khokhar said.

PSGPC President Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora Strongly Condemned The Indian Government’s Decision, Stating, “Respecting Religious Freedoms is a Fundamental Responsibility of Every Country. Regrettably, India Has Undermined Religious Harmony and Hurt The Sentiments of Sikh Pilgrims By Prevent Them From Visiting Pakiting Pakistan On Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s Martyrdom Anniversary.
He further emphasized that the SIKH community gets tremendous respect in Pakistan, where the government prioritizes the maintenance of Sikh -religious places. “Pakistan is a genuine guardian of minority rights. India’s actions – which blocks Sikh Pilgrims and keeps the Kartarpur Corridor closed – is unacceptable and provocative,” noted Arora.
He also criticized Indian media for its ongoing propaganda against Pakistan and said, “Pakistan continues to promote peace, tolerance and interreligious harmony. The Kartarpur Corridor remains open from our side, and Indian SIKH pilgrims are welcome to visit at any time.”
In the past, Arora has expressed deep gratitude to the global SIKH community for their strong show of solidarity with Pakistan and its armed forces in the midst of recent regional development.

In a broadcast, Arora gave the unity and ideological clarity demonstrated by Sikhs all over the world and said, “The Sikh nation has again proven that it does not compromise on the principles of peace, fraternity and truth.”
He noted that Sikhs, who live in countries such as India, the United States, Canada, various European nations and Switzerland, had shown unshakable support for Pakistan’s attitude. “This is a historical message that the truth knows no boundaries,” he added.
The Minister said that trials from certain hostile elements to create disagreement within the SIKH community had failed.
