India resumes the issuance of tourist visa to Chinese citizens from July 24 this year, and its embassy in China announced on Wednesday and first noticed in five years that both countries are working to repair their rocky conditions.
Tensions between the two countries escalated after a military clash in 2020 along their disputed Himalayan border. In response, India imposed restrictions on Chinese investments, banned hundreds of popular Chinese apps and cut passenger routes.
China suspended Visa to Indian citizens and other foreigners at the same time due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but lifted these limitations in 2022 when it resumed issuing Visa for students and business travelers.
Tourist visa for Indian citizens remained limited until March this year, with both countries agreeing to resume Direct Air Service.
The relationship has gradually improved, with several high -level meetings that took place last year, including conversations between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Russia in October.
China’s spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Guo Jiakun said Wednesday that Beijing had noticed the positive step.
“China is ready to maintain communication and consultation with India and constantly improve the level of personal exchanges between the two countries,” he said.
India and China share a 3,800 kilometer (2,400 miles) border that has been disputed since the 1950s. The two countries fought for a short but brutal border war in 1962, and the negotiations to run the dispute has made slow progress.
In July, India’s Foreign Minister told his Chinese counterpart that both countries must resolve border friction, withdraw troops and avoid “restrictive trade measures” to normalize their relationship.
