Explosions were reported in Muzaffarabad, Kotli and Bahawalpur early Wednesday morning as tension between Pakistan and India continued to escalate.
Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Chaudhry has confirmed that Indian forces carried out air strikes in three locations inside Pakistan and targeted Bahawalpurs Ahmed East area, Kotli and Muzaffarabad.
“Some time ago from now, Cowardly Enemy Launched India Air strikes on the Subhanullah Mosque in Bahwalpurs Ahmed East area, Kotli and Muzaffarabad in three places from the air,” said Chaudhry during a press orientation in the evening.
He added that the Pakistani Air Force had encrypted jets in response to the attack. “All of our Air Force Rays are airborne. This Feige and shameful attack was carried out from India’s airspace. They were never allowed to come and penetrate the space of Pakistan.”
With the issuing of a strict warning, the military spokesman said, “Let me say that it unequivocally: Pakistan will answer this at a time and a place where the own voter. This abominable provocation will not be unanswered.”
When asked about possible injuries and infrastructure damage, DG Chaudhry noted that the assessment effort was underway and promised to share further details once they were confirmed.
Local sources also stated that a complete blackout occurred in the Muzaffarabad after the explosions, which raised concerns about the extent of injuries and the ongoing security situation.
In light of the recent development, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had issued a sharp warning in which he said a clash with India is now “inevitable” and could occur “at any time.” His remarks come in the midst of growing fears of direct military confrontation between the two nuclear armed neighbors.
The incident follows weeks of increased tension after a deadly attack in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which New Delhi has blamed Pakistan – an accusation Islamabad is strongly denying.
No official declaration of damage or infrastructure damage has not yet been released. Authorities have called on citizens to remain calm and wait for verified information.
