Indiana footballer chooses to join Barstool Sports to declare NFL draft: ‘This is my thing’

After playing six years at Indiana University, Mike Katic has decided to put his NFL dreams to the side.

After originally declaring last year’s NFL draft and then returning to his last year with eligibility, the former center has decided to participate in Barstool Sports as a media personality and analyst.

“I’m pumped. This is what I think I was born to do,” Katic said at “The Yak” with Dan “Big Cat” Katz. “Football is great, but I think that’s my thing. So I’m super excited about moving in here.”

Katic does not officially start working until March 1, but he visited Jon the gravel, recently hired by the site, at Barstool’s offices. And they had about as much of a greeting as one would predict from a Super Bowl master coach and a six-year-old college star.

“Barstool has our new center and I already love him!” The gravel said on X while sending a video of their first interaction.

Immediately after shaking his hands, the gravel asked Katic to enter his Lineman attitude and the two shared another handshake and hug.

“When [Gruden] asking you to get in an attitude you get into a damn attitude! “Katic posted on X.

Katic seemed to suggest that his play days were over after Hoosiers’ College Football Playoff -Tab to Notre Dame when he posted at X, “Thank you Indiana University. Thank you football.”

Katic would probably be a late-round selection if he had been taken at all. Pro Football Focus graduated Katic as the 10th best center in Power Four conferences.

Katic said he was hired quickly after Dave Portnoy saw him in “Three clips that did media” after being connected through a member of Hoosiers’ men’s basketball team.
