  • Mark Kimmitt says the development should concern New Delhi.
  • President Trump has a heartfelt relationship with Coas Munir, he adds.

Retired US Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt has said that Washington’s growing proximity with Pakistan is largely due to India’s arrogance.

When he talked about British journalist Piers Morgan’s show, the retired US General said that President Donald Trump has established a heartfelt relationship with Field Marshal Asim Munir – a development he said should concern New Delhi.

“India’s arrogance, shown to President Trump, manifests himself in the fact that we are now getting much closer to Pakistan,” he said.

“Field Marshal Munir now has a bromance with President Trump, who should actually give India a break,” Kimmitt added.

Friction between Modi and Trump grew after the US president repeatedly talked about how he prevented a nuclear war – an assertion that India rejected and insisted that the ceasefire was agreed directly between the two nations.

The tensions came upside down in a phone call on June 17 with Narendra Modi, which was held after Trump left the group of seven summit in Canada early and could not meet the Indian leader in person.

Field Marshal Munir last visited the United States in June, holding a rare one-on-one-one meeting with Trump at the White House cabinet room.

The June visit took place on the basis of an armed Pakistan-India conflict, with Washington helping broker with a ceasefire after Indian strikes inside Pakistan, which New Delhi claims targeted those responsible for the Pahagam attack in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Pakistan responded with Operation Bunyan-Eum-Mararsoos and took down several Indian fighter jets.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Modi had said that New Delhi and Washington still shared “very positive” ties.

In a social media statement, the Indian Prime Minister expressed optimism about New Delhi’s relationship with Washington after President Trump confirmed his personal friendship with Indian Prime Minister and neglected his previous comments on “losing India” to China.

“Deeply appreciated and retaliate President Trump’s feelings and positive assessment of our bond,” Modi wrote on X, adding that India and the United States shared a “very positive and forward -looking comprehensive and global strategic partnership.”

Previously, Trump told journalists he “always wants to be friends with modi”.

“India and the United States have a special relationship. There is nothing to worry about,” Trump said, and trumped his earlier comments about “losing India” to China.
