India’s unilateral suspension of IWT could destabilize Regional Peace: Bilawal

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Head of Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation to the United Kingdom, has firmly rejected India’s accusations against Pakistan and called them baseless and not supported by credible evidence following the recent Pahagam event.

After completing their visit to the United States, the Pakistani delegation arrived in Britain on Sunday to present Pakistan’s attitude to Indian aggression.

The nine member group held conversations with the United Nations representatives, Member States Diplomats and High-ranking US officials in an attempt to present Pakistan’s tale of the recent conflict in Pakistan India and advocates peace in South Asia.

When we spoke at a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Pakistan, hosting a member of the Member of Parliament Yasmin Qureshi in Westminster Palace in London on Tuesday, Bilawal turned across the party’s British parliamentarians who briefed them on Pakistan’s attitude.

“Indian attacks on civilians, violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty and the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty could lead to dangerous consequences for regional and international peace,” Bilawal said. He criticized India’s unilateral acts and called for a renewed obligation to peace and dialogue.

“We are obliged to a calibrated, responsible response in accordance with international law, especially the right to self-defense during the UN Charter,” he confirmed. He emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to restraint and called for a renewed dialogue focusing on all outstanding issues, especially Kashmir.

In his meeting with speeches for the House of House, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, former Foreign Minister Pakistan’s concerns expressed the unjustified military strikes against civilians and the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. He called for the protection of the holiness of international treaties and warned against “weapons from water.”

The delegation emphasized that sustainable peace in South Asia could only be achieved through a fair solution of the Kashmir issue, as outlined by the UN Charter and relevant Security Council’s decisions.

The speaker of House of Commons recognized the long -standing, heartfelt relations between Britain and Pakistan and repeated Britain’s commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Minister of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Malik also highlighted the environmental dangers that India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty constituted. He warned of significant threats to food safety and the livelihood of Pakistan’s 240 million people, especially in its agricultural economy.

Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and member of Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation visiting the United Kingdom, Senator Sherry Rehman, also reiterated that Pakistan is obliged to promote peace and reduce tension in the region.

In an interview with Sky News, Rehman emphasized that although Pakistan is seeking peace, it should not be perceived as a sign of weakness. “We do not want regional conflicts to escalate into crises, but our desire for peace should not be confused as vulnerability,” she said.

She clarified that Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements in the United States and Britain are aiming to ensure that the international community gets an accurate portrayal of the situation.

“The purpose of our diplomatic visit is to keep facts intact and give a truthful account of events,” she said, highlighting Pakistan’s active role in international dialogue.

Rehman, who approached the recent tensions with India, described the conflict as unnecessary and unprovoked and attributes its origins to Indian actions. She also criticized certain Indian media for aggravating tension by spreading incorrect information and adapting to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationalist agenda.

“These media stuck war rhetoric and propagates fake reports,” she said.

Senior PPP leader also drawn attention to Pakistan’s significant terrorist efforts and acknowledged that the country is facing one of the highest rates of terrorist attacks globally. She confirmed that Pakistan continues to work tirelessly to fight terrorism and secure regional stability.

“Pakistan is committed to peace and security, and we do everything we can to counter terrorism and promote stability in the region,” she concluded.

Following the ceasefire with India, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Bilawal appointed a high -level delegation that is tasked with presenting ‘Pakistan’s case for peace’ on recent Indian aggression to the international community.

The committee aims to collaborate with global leaders and institutions to raise awareness of India’s actions and Pakistan’s concerns about the Indus Waters Treaty. The government has also planned to send additional delegations to other countries as part of a wider diplomatic search.
