India’s weapon from the Indus Waters Treaty is Red Line: PM tells Iranian FM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to work closely with Iran for regional peace, stability and development during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad on Monday.

At the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister expressed his condolance over the recent explosion in Bandar Abbas, resulting in more injuries and injuries. He expanded his greeting to Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and conveyed warm wishes to the newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian.

PM Shehbaz used the opportunity to speak Pakistan’s concern about rising tensions in South Asia, which he attributed to India’s provocative actions after the Pahagam incident.

He rejected categorical attempts to link Pakistan to the incident and called such claims baseless and not -substantiated. “Pakistan has offered an international, transparent, neutral and credible study to determine the facts behind the Pahagam attack,” he repeated.

PM Shehbaz also criticized India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty and called it an unacceptable provocation. “India’s weapons from the Indus water Treaty is a red line for the population of Pakistan,” he warned.

In response, Foreign Minister Araghchi conveyed greetings from the Iranian leadership and confirmed Iran’s obligation to elaborate on his bilateral relations with Pakistan. He also expressed Iran’s willingness to play a constructive role in supporting peace and stability in South Asia.
