Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has expressed keen interest in leveraging the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) training ecosystem and aerospace development infrastructure to improve his country’s defense capabilities, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

The Indonesian President showed the interest during his meeting with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force.

“During the meeting, the air chief emphasized the shared values ​​and long-standing brotherhood between Pakistan and Indonesia, and President Prabowo expressed keen interest in leveraging the PAF’s advanced training ecosystem and aerospace development infrastructure to enhance Indonesia’s defense capabilities,” the statement read.

Earlier, the air chief held separate high-level meetings with Defense Minister Lieutenant General (retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Indonesian Air Marshal. He was given a guard of honor at all venues.

During the discussion with the Indonesian air chief, both sides discussed improved air force-to-air force cooperation, joint training from basic to advanced level, professional exchanges and cooperation in new areas of aerospace.

The Indonesian Air Chief sought the PAF’s support to promote operational and flight training, acknowledging the PAF’s rich combat experience.

The Air Chief was awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest award of the Indonesian Air Force, in recognition of his role in strengthening bilateral air force cooperation.

The Air Chief also held a joint meeting with the Indonesian Minister of Defense and Chief of the Defense Forces, where a wide range of defense and security issues were discussed.

The Indonesian leadership appreciated PAF’s professionalism, modernization drive and praised the advanced technological infrastructure of the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park.
