Insurance giant Allianz Life has confirmed to suffer a cyberattack where it saw the losing sensitive data on the “majority” of its customers, with over a million people at risk.
The North American Insurance Giant said the attack happened on July 16, 2025, when a threat actor gained access to a third party, cloud-based CRM system used by the company.
After finding out the penetration, the company took action to contain it and notified the FBI. So far, there is no evidence that the company’s network or other systems were accessed, it was added.

“The threat actor was able to get personally identifiable data related to the majority of Allianz Life’s customers, financial professionals and choose Allianz Life employees using a social engineering technique,” a spokesman for the company explained.
“Our study is underway and we began the process of reaching out to individuals who are affected by dedicated resources to help them. This incident is only related to Allianz Life, who currently has 1.4 million customers.”
