- Xess 2S SDK is now freely available to game developers as Intel releases it via GitHub
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows contains Xess 2 when launched on March 20
- This will be good for handheld, Intel Arc GPU and Ultrabook Portable players
While AMD and NVIDIA make big features for players with the Radeon RX 9000 series and RTX 5000 series GPUs respectively, Intel is still a potential dark horse for affordable PC game this generation. Its already – launched battlemage ARC B580 and B570 GPUs offer strong alternatives to AMD and Nvidia’s more affordable options – and now it has taken a good step that will help the players further.
As reported by TWEACTown, Intels Xess 2 SDK is now available for download via GitHub, which means game developers will be able to implement the technology (with full functionality) in their games. This means that Xess 2 (powered by AI) Super Resolution, Rammegeneration and Xell Low Latenial time will probably emerge in upcoming titles – and the most important example is Assassin’s Creed Shadowswhich contains Xess 2 and will be launched on March 20.
A wide range of Intel’s hardware including ARC B580 and B570, Lunar Lake Apus and the full package of Intel Core Ultra Laptop Chips has access to the full range of Xess 2 features, especially within the best Ultrabooks and the recent MSI Claw 8 AI+. However, some older hardware does not have access to Xess 2’s framework generation due to lack of AI capacities -this is similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 and 4, as its AI -driven frame generation is not available on RTX 3000 and older GPUs.
In short, Team Blue makes a serious effort to catch up with AMD and Nvidia; The Battlemage -GPUs are a fantastic starting point, and future improvements to its Xess technologies can take it one step closer.
This has me even more excited about owning an MSI Claw 8 AI+ handheld …
As much as I love my Asus Rog Ally, it gradually begins to collect dust. I long for a more powerful handheld game device, to push performance levels higher, and the MSI Claw 8 AI+ looks like the perfect answer. With Xess 2’s SDK, which is now easily accessible to developers, it is probably the ideal time to get my claws on a claw.
AMDS FSR 4 will not be available on anything other than RDNA 4 hardware – and it is a huge bum to me, and many others hope that like Rog Ally or Lenovos Legion GO (including its new prototype) would benefit retroactively from the new upscaling technology. The only other serious option (so far) is the MSI Claw 8 AI+as it has access to all Xess 2’s offers – and I’ve been absolutely gushing over it based on performance exhibitions and benchmarks.
The same goes for Ultrabooks using compatible Intel processors – players will be able to enjoy Xess 2 in several games in the future and as integrated graphics continue with 2’s reach.
